It's going to be a significant challenge. We really need to tighten up the run defense.

Sampson ranks second in the nation in touchdowns so far this season with 15, three behind Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. The 5-foot-11, 201-pound junior from Baton Rouge has rushed for 701 yards so far.

Meanwhile, Alabama’s rush defense has been struggling. The Crimson Tide has surrendered 775 yards on the ground to opponents this season, 129.17 per game, which ranks 14th out of the SEC’s 16 teams.

Like everything else going into Saturday, Bama has got a lot to prove. Just like in 2007, there are troubling scenes of missed assignments, careless penalties and some questionable coaching decisions, but talent is not the problem and I'm not seeing much in the way of improvement in addressing these concerns.

I’m with you. And part of me wonders how big of changes can be made during the season? We need an overhaul and I don’t know that time allows for that in the heart of the season.

Looks like we have our answer.
