On USM.... Since I live in the Hub City, I hear the rumblings. As for now, they are talking Patrick Surtain Sr. He played for USM back in the Mid 90's and is currently the Defensive Backs Coach at FSU. I am sure yall all remember his son, Patrick Surtain II. Anyway, they feel that with him being an alum, he will be more like Jeff Bower was and not use Southern as a stepping stone.

Another name for them I have heard is Derrick Nix, who is at Auburn right now in his first year on Hooker Hugh's staff as the OC. He is another USM grad/player, but he is making $800K. I do not see USM being able to come close to that, but with Hugh possibly being on the hot seat soon, he may decide it a good chance to go home. With Auburn having some offensive woes this year, Derrick could be the obvious scape-goat for the likes of Hugh Freeze. Nothing is EVER Hooker Hugh's fault.

I don't see a big difference from the 824,000 the previous coach was making and $1+ that Derrick would be asking for really. That's pretty bad. They need to up what they're offering.

USM don’t have it to offer. They don’t put any fans on the stands. I have one friend with season tix, he estimates about 5000 at home games.
