Auburn Hugh did what?

Doesn't there have to be a 2 minute timeout. So calling a timeout at 2:01 just means the next play is also a timeout? I actually think this was a good move?

if the next play takes 5 seconds to run, then you wouldn’t get a stoppage until 1:56. If you let the clock hit 2:00, it would have stopped, saving 4 seconds, and you would save the timeout.

I see your point, but you will never run a play in just 1 second, so I see it as a net loss of time and that’s the most important part

Isn't it time wasted before the 2 minute warning, as opposed to after, which negates the entire thing? IDK lol

The only advantage-IMO-is it gives you a free time out to plan your play(s). Doesn't really save time, just gives an extra time out.

Ok, let’s try this another way.

It’s 2:01 on the clock and you call timeout. Now you have 1 less timeout.

You get your play figured out and you go back out. Run that play, and it takes 8 seconds to run it. Now the clock is at 1:53 and stops for the 2:00 timeout.

if you had let the clock tick one more second. It would have been stopped at 2:00, and you still have your TO. Yes, after you run the play, the clock would be reading 1:52. But you would still have your timeout. And if you’re smart and run that play to the boundary, the clock would once again be stopped.

But…. Because you saved your timeout, you could still use the middle of the field too.

I see it as better clock management to save the TO and sacrifice the one second.

Heck, y’all Bammers all know what can happen with just one second on the clock right?
