If I wake up on Sunday Morning and Ole Miss has upset Georgia on Saturday. These are the things I would think had to happen.

Defensively
  1. Stop the run. Ole Miss has had a pretty formidable rushing defense all year. Ranking #2 nationally at only 82.22 yards per game, that is good enough for the #1 spot in the conference. We will need the Ole Miss defensive unit to keep on keeping on when it comes to this. Why is this important to me? I am glad you asked. If Carson Beck has shown a weakness so far, it is in his passing game. He will throw a few completions to the other team. if we can force him to beat us throwing, that is our best course of action in my humble opinion. Which brings me to defensive key #2.
  2. Pressure, pressure, pressure....PRESSURE THE DAMN Quarterback. As stated above. Beck can get rattled if he doesn't have all day to peruse the field. He needs to be harassed all day.
  3. Field goals, not touchdowns. Georgia is too good to hold scoreless. They will score. The Ole Miss defense has to make most of the Bulldog points come off of field goals.

Offensively
  1. Take what the defense gives you. Too many times this year I have seen Weiss (Ole Miss OC) dial up a homerun shot down field. We all love them when they connect, but against UGA, I dont know how many times those DBs will give great separation. This means Dart will have to be on the money when it comes to accuracy, and while he has shown he usually can be, I think against UGA, we should methodically work the field, and if the short underneath stuff is all thats available, take them. Georgia is 26th in the nation and 4th in the country in pass defense. So that is not too shabby. We have to take what they give us and get the ball in the end zone.
  2. Protect the football. Do not turn it over. We have done a pretty good job of this so far this season, Dart having only thrown 3 interceptions and as a team only fumbled the ball 5 times. This has to continue. Cannot give Georgia free possessions.
  3. Touchdowns ,not field goals. Simply cannot sputter to a halt once we get into the red-zone.
  4. I would love to see us be effective running the ball, but so far this year, we just have not had the success that we enjoyed with Quinshon Judkins in the backfield. As I stated in a post a few weeks ago, Ole Miss doesn't want his attitude back, but we sure miss his skill-set. He had the ability to run through arm tackles, that the smaller, speedier backs we have now cannot. I think the Rebels will play Dominique Thomas a good bit this week. At the start of the year, he was way down the depth chart. But last week against Arkansas, what he lacked in yards, he made up for to me with his blocking ability. He helped protect Dart all afternoon, and that was needed big time.

The uncontrollable
  1. Weather may be a factor in this game. If it is nasty weather, then the Offensive #1 key is even more important, as well as #4. The chance of rain as of this writing is anywhere ranging from 50% at kickoff to almost 80% by 6:00.
  2. Injuries. Always a problem by the time you get to game 10. Lane Kiffin released his status report earlier this week, and man......I sure hope that was a bit of gamesmanship on his part. Not only was the Rebel #1 receiving target, Trey Harris ruled as doubtful, but a slough of other playmakers as well like Jordan Watkins, Princely Umanmielen, and more.

These are the kind of games you want to play in. But as a fan, I am almost sick to my stomach already.
