I was just doing a little thinking and reflecting on how this season has played out. More importantly I was looking at how it’s playing out RIGHT NOW.
I will be called a homer and a kiss ass for saying this. But the two best teams in the SEC right now, at this very spot in the season, are Alabama and Ole Miss.
Not by records. But by how they are actually playing. Another weird phenomenon is that the two teams seasons have almost mirrored each other’s.
No doubt that they didn’t take care of their own schedules, but look at the mirror effect.
September 28th. Ole Miss loses to Kentucky, inexcusable. The next week on October 5th, Bama loses to Vanderbilt. Inexcusable. A couple weeks later, Ole Miss loses to LSU, a game they never trailed in until the OT period. But that is when it really mattered. The next week, on October 19th Bama loses to Tennessee.
But since then, lightbulbs switched on for both teams. For Ole Miss it happened at halftime during to Oklahoma game. For Bama it was pretty much kickoff in the Missouri game.
For the present time. I don’t see any team
In the conference playing as good as Ole Miss and Alabama. I posted a graphic yesterday that showed Texas’ wins over currently ranked opponents. They have none. I don’t think Tennessee is as good as their record either, just a feeling I have.
For Ole Miss and Bama, just keep on winning. The CFP will take care of itself. If they keep playing as they are now, this playoff can get fun.
